He was born to Millard and Ollie Marie (Jones) Wilburn, April 5, 1935, in Green County, Ohio.

He retired from the government as a Captain. Ater retirement he moved to Forsyth, Missouri from Las Vegas, Nevada. While living in the Ozarks and near the many lakes, he enjoyed fishing and would go whenever he could. Robert was creative with his hands doing woodworking and making many items.
