Mary Ann (Cheek) Angus...
The world is less jolly and sweet with the passing of Mary Ann (Cheek) Angus on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Mary Ann was born as the fifth child of seven to Marie (Rogers) and OJ Cheek on October 25, 1957. She grew up on the family farm and attended Flippin Public Schools where she graduated in 1976.
She began her career as a seamstress at Ranger Boats on August 10, 1981, where she stayed as a loyal employee up until her death. Mary Ann loved to cook, sew, craft and create things. She was well known for her chocolate covered strawberries and other decadent desserts. If you love a dish of hers, she was bound to make it for you during a get together or special occasion.
Even though she was self-proclaimed Crazy Aunt Mary and weather reporter for Cheek Mountain, she became proud Mom to her only child Alan John Lasecki, JR in July of 1990. She was always so proud of his accomplishments in life. She shed tears at the party celebrating him earning his Paramedic degree.
She became married to William (Wild Bill) Angus on May 17, 2014, at a small ceremony on the family farm. They were both overly excited when Alan married the love of his life Alyssa in September of 2021.
As happy as she always was about her family, that rose to a peak in September 2022 when her favorite title in life, GRANNY, became hers with the birth of her grandson Douglas. She was always quick to show the latest photo and update of him. He brought her an unmeasurable amount of pride and joy.
Mary Ann passed away at her home on Cheek Mountain on June 29, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents OJ and Marie Cheek, brothers: Doyle, Charley and Tommy Cheek, and her husband Bill Angus. She is survived by her son Alan and wife Alyssa of Mountain Home, grandson Douglas of Mountain Home, sister Paulette (Dayle) Dillinger of Mountain Home, brother Bobby (Ruby) Cheek of Gassville, brother Johnny (Darla) Cheek of Cheek Mountain Yellville, sister-in-law Jackie Cheek of Cheek Mountain Yellville, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
