Leslie Alan Lyons, age 67, passed away on November 1, 2025.
Leslie Alan “Les” Lyons, age 67, left this world and stepped into eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 1, 2025, in Cassville, Missouri.
The fourth son of Gene and Sylvia (Pering) Lyons, Les was born on December 2, 1957, in Springfield, Missouri. Les attended schools in Springfield and was a 1975 graduate of Hillcrest High School. He also attended Draughon Business College for a short time. He was employed by Fasco Industries for over forty-six years, retiring in 2022. He held sixteen U.S. patents during his engineering tenure. He worked alongside many lifelong friends and colleagues. Fasco is where he met the love of his life, Diana (Lowe) Lyons. They were married forty-four years.
Les loved the outdoors and was an avid cyclist, each year setting a birthday goal of riding the number of miles as his celebrated birthday. He played golf from a young age, and later in his life, he loved playing with his buddies. Other hobbies included camping, hiking, floating, fishing, and playing the air guitar while standing on a cooler in a canoe! He was a craftsman of making Native American-style flutes. It gave him great pleasure in making a flute and gifting it to a complete stranger. He had a loving heart. Some of his flutes were also shipped overseas. He lived life to the fullest and was always ready to tell a good joke. He loved to laugh and make others laugh.
This month, Les would have celebrated thirty years of sobriety and was a sponsor to many other men, helping them live a richer life of sobriety. Les was a Godly man and had great faith. No matter how his day had been, each and every night before going to bed, he looked at a picture of Jesus and said, “Thank you, Jesus, for another great day.” Les was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Cassville. He loved his family more than anything and was so proud of all their accomplishments.
Les was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Diane; three sons, Brian Lyons and his wife, Margaret, of Glendale, Missouri; Chris Lyons and his wife, Tamara, of Cassville, Missouri; and Nick Lyons and his wife, Jamie, of Cassville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Lilian, Cadence, Lukas, Nathan, Hattie, and Lincoln; three brothers, Charlie Lyons and his wife, Judy; Steve Lyons and his wife, Marilyn; and Gary Lyons. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as a host of friends. Les and Diane had matching gold wedding rings with the word Mizpah inscribed. A favorite Bible verse of theirs was Genesis 31:49, which mentions Mizpah, meaning “watchtower.” May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent from each other.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Lee Beck will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Dementia Society of America at www.dementiasociety.org or The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at www.theaftd.org in memory of Les.
