Janice Renee Hensiek (Meier) - August 28, 1941 – June 17, 2025.
Janice Renee Hensiek, 83, of Hollister, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis and Blue Eye, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025. Born in Ames, Iowa, on August 28, 1941, Janice was the beloved daughter of Louise and William Meier.
Janice was a devoted wife to Kenneth M. Hensiek and a loving mother to Timothy Scott Hensiek and Kimberly Renee Hensiek. She was a cherished grandmother to Kolby Javon Dowdy and Olivia Renee Dowdy, and a proud great-grandmother to Joey Noland Dowdy and Nemyah Antonie Jayms Wiggins. She is also survived by her dear sister, Barbara K. Meier.
Janice earned her college degree and went on to complete seminary school. She dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds as a preschool teacher and later served as a secretary at Washington University in St. Louis.
Janice’s love for gardening and sewing was matched only by her love for people. She had a gift for conversation and made friends wherever she went. Her deep faith and joy in fellowship were central to her life, and she was an active member of Open Doors Methodist Church in Blue Eye, Missouri.
She retired to Blue Eye before settling in Hollister, where she continued to bring warmth, kindness, and wisdom to everyone around her. Janice was a beautiful soul, deeply loved and gone too soon.
A memorial service will be held on June 28, 2025, at Open Doors Methodist Church in Blue Eye, Missouri at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, an organization close to her heart.
