James Randall Griffis

James Randall Griffis, 46, passed away on August 18, 2025.

James Randall Griffis, age 46, of Branson, Missouri, went home to his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on August 18, 2025. Jim was born February 13, 1979, to Paul and Pam Griffis, in San Fernando de Apure in Venezuela.

Jim trusted Jesus as his Lord at a young age and continued to grow in the knowledge and grace of God throughout his earthly life. Jim’s family and friends know well how he desired to show kindness to others. Jim was endlessly humorous as he sought to lift the spirits of others. Jim also loved the outdoors and enjoyed seeking adventures, from picking wild fruit in the tallest trees to jumping from heights into the water below. Fishing was always a favorite, and later he cherished opportunities to fish with his three children.
Jim’s professional training was in English and Secondary Education; he then became a high school teacher and soccer coach in Wichita, Kansas. Although God sovereignly allowed Jim to suffer mental health struggles in later years, by God’s grace Jim maintained a loyalty to Jesus, a strong and ceaseless love for his children, and ongoing caring concern for fellow family members, friends, and even those of lesser means in the world around him.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Pam, in 1984. Jim is survived by his parents, Paul and Velma Griffis of Branson, Missouri; his siblings: Candy and husband Brady Farr of Durban, South Africa; Mike and wife Michelle Griffis of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Jeff and wife Clara Griffis of Branson, Missouri; Jennifer and husband Brendan Pankratz of Ozark, Missouri; Jim's children: Kyler, Selah, and Maylin Griffis of Aimes, Iowa; and a number of nephews and nieces.

A memorial service to thank God for Jim’s earthly life will be held at Branson Bible Church on 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025. Visitation will occur at 11:00 a.m. on the same day and at the same location.
