Dorothy Jean Edwards of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away at the age of 92, on February 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy Jean Taylor Edwards was born June 1, 1932, to Robert Jefferson Taylor and Maggie Nora (Hall) Taylor in Longview, TX. Dorothy Jean moved to Sacramento, CA, at the age of 14, where she graduated from Sacramento High School 3 days after her 16th birthday. That same month on June 27, 1948, Dorothy Jean married Joseph Junior Edwards.
Joe and Jean together were blessed with four children. They had celebrate sixty-four years together before Joe’s death on April 6, 2013.
Joe and Jean remained in California until his retirement. Afterwards they moved back to his childhood home in Southwest Missouri. Jean remained in Missouri until 2018 when she moved to Broken Arrow, OK, to be with her daughter. Jean remained in Oklahoma with her daughter until her passing.
Jean will be remembered as a devoted Christian. She was a mighty prayer warrior, loving wife and mother. Jean was a friend to everyone.
Dorothy Jean Edwards is survived by her daughter, Yvonda Willmett, twin sons Richard and wife Christine, Ronald and wife Laura, and youngest son Timothy and wife Vickie, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and other family and loved ones.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11 AM at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson, Missouri. Burial will be held at the Edwards Cemetery, Kirbyville, Mo. at a later date.
