Billy “Gene” Bonham, age 86, of Shell Knob, Missouri

Billy “Gene” Bonham, age 86, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away January 15, 2023. He entered this life August 27, 1936, the son of Oren and Audrey (Smith) Bonham in Nauvoo, Missouri.

Gene was a hard worker who cut his own wood, cut his own hay, worked with his horses, and helped anyone in need however he could. He was known for reading books and watching old movies. Gene worked at everything, from driving trucks to doing construction. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Donna Pearl Swofford, Alene Faye Swofford, and infant sister, Wanda Bonham; brother, Vancel Bonham; and nephew, Mike Bonham.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Eula Bobbie Bonham of Champaign, Illinois; four nephews: Donnie Bonham of Champaign, Illinois, Dale Swofford of Shell Knob, Missouri, David Swofford of Princeville, Illinois, and Mike Swofford of Blue Eye, Missouri; four nieces: Michelle Akers of Reeds Spring, Missouri, Karlene Todd of Hindsville, Arkansas, Dorothy Swofford of Berryville, Arkansas, and Yvonne Swofford of Shell Knob, Missouri; as well as many other extended family members and many friends.
