Temperatures in the Lakes Region will shoot up today into the 70s which also brings an elevated fire risk.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the western part of the Lakes Region including Barry and Stone Counties. Christian and Greene Counties including the metro Springfield area are also under the warning.
Wind gusts of over 30 MPH and relative humidity under 30% are expected in the region. Forecasters say burning is not recommended through the entire region for today.
A front will bring a quick surge of cooler air with temperatures in the 50s Saturday, close to 60 on Sunday, then back to the 70s by Monday.
