Wildfire Risk Increasing in Arkansas

The continuing hot and dry conditions have elevated the wildfire risk in Arkansas.

According to the latest information released by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, all of the Lakes Region counties, Boone, Carroll, Marion, Newton, and Searcy are at a Moderate Risk level.

While no burn bans are in place for the Lakes Region, other area counties including Benton, Madison, Stone, Van Buren, and Washington Counties do have county bans in place. Some individual cities in the state also have issued burn bans.

The department states in their release that moderate risk conditions can lead to accidental starting of fires and caution should be used if burning.
