The extended period of Elevated Fire Danger continues for the Lakes Region.

The National Weather Service in Springfield again warns of an Elevated Fire Danger with gusty winds today out of the south at 30-40 MPH possible which combined with a dry air mass leads to the risk of wildfires.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued an Elevated Wildfire Advisory for areas south and east of Harrison.

Some relief is on the way as rain chances begin early Wednesday morning with showers off and on expected in the region for the rest of the week. Brief periods of heavy rain are possible as a pair of systems move through with the best chance of rain coming on Thursday.
