Make-A-Wish Mid-South serves the local area's children facing life-threatening conditions.
Volunteers Rita Huff, Diane Mitchell and Jeannie King from Make A Wish Foundation appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about the foundation and its work.
It began in the seventies when a young boy in Arizona dreaming of a career as a police was diagnosed with cancer. Some officers rallied together to make him a police officer for a day. They have made trips as big as Disney World and Australia happen; they have also granted smaller wishes like shopping outings.
Before wishes are granted, families are informed about the organization. Children's hospitals inform parents of the organization. From there, they interview the parents and paperwork is filled out.
The process doesn't end there. The paperwork is sent back to Make-A-Wish's state office.
Following that, the doctor needs to grant approval. More was discussed on the broadcast.
The full interview Huff, Mitchell and King is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
