The National Weather Service Office in Springfield has now issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire region for Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the statement from the Weather Service, heavy mixed precipitation is expected with total snow and sleet accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations between two tenths and one half of an inch. Precipitation is expected to begin mid to late morning Wednesday.
Power outages and tree damage is possible due to the ice and travel at times could be nearly impossible. The winter conditions are expected to impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
The Winter Storm Warning now also extends into northern Arkansas replacing the Winter Storm Watch. The Winter Storm Warning area extends from Illinois just east of St. Louis through the southern two-thirds of Missouri, all of northern Arkansas into northeast Oklahoma.
