All it takes to volunteer for the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is a drive to help single parents desiring to attend school, according to Michelle Bylar.
Bylar volunteers for the fund and promoted it on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Monday. She said she does a variety of things to help. Fundraising is a prominent priority.
She said people assisting with fundraising is a "big need." Bylar said training in many skills like car repairs, cooking and more is provided. "It's about more than just helping them go to school. It's about helping them with life in general," Bylar said. The volunteer also highlighted a feature of the program that she likes.
She said that checks received go directly to the parents. This can help them have money for rent or other needs if their schooling is already funded by a grant or other party.
All of this and more was discussed on the broadcast. The full interview with Bylar is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
