The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is beginning projects in and around recreation areas on Bull Shoals Lake.
The full release from the USACE is below:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District will start a major roadwork, paving and park enhancement project Sept. 15, 2025, at Buck Creek Park and Lead Hill Park recreation areas on Bull Shoals Lake.
Initial work will focus on Buck Creek Park and Lead Hill Park, where crews will expand boat ramp parking lots and enhance overall access to the lake.
While full park closures are not anticipated during the early phases, visitors should expect temporary impacts to certain amenities, particularly boat launching areas. The boat ramp at Buck Creek Park will be closed until further notice due to heavy equipment operations. The boat ramp within Lead Hill Campground will also be closed. However, boaters will still have access to the nearby ramp on Shoreline Drive.
The closures are necessary to safely complete the scope of work and improve long-term functionality of the parks. Currently, campground reservations remain unaffected, although they could close in the future. Additional upgrades are planned for a later date at Tucker Hollow Park and Highway 125 Park, continuing USACE’s commitment to enhancing recreational infrastructure around Bull Shoals Lake.
These improvements are part of ongoing planned upgrades including enhancements to boat ramps, additional parking in both normal and high-water areas and improved park entry and exit points.
USACE officials regret the inconvenience but emphasize that the work will enhance safety and improve the visitor experience.
