A nonprofit helping single parents rise out of poverty through access to higher education announces the winners of its 2026 Outstanding Partner Awards.
One of those honorees announced by the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund includes a Lakes Region institution as North Arkansas College of the University of Arkansas was named the Outstanding Education Partner for 2026.
U of A Northark Director of Public Relations Micki Somers discussed the honor during a Thursday visit to KHOZ's "Around the Table" program, said the college has supported single parents wanting to earn an education and has worked closely with the Scholarship Fund on a number of events in the area and around the state. Somers adds that the organization also holds many events at the school talking to students about potential scholarships available plus staff members have volunteered for many of those events.
A release from the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund announcing U of A Northark's selection also announces Bank OZK as the 2026 Community Partner along with Bailey Hutcheson, a 2023 ASPSF graduate from Arkansas State University-Mountain Home, being named Outstanding Alumna for the year.
Recognition for the awards will take place during A Day of Hope on Friday, Sept. 18 in Little Rock.
