Two minor earthquakes strike in Searcy County over the weekend.
According to the United States Geological Survey, both quakes occurred in southern Searcy County near the Pope County Line. The first occurred late Saturday afternoon and was a magnitude 2.4 quake around 27 miles south-southeast of Harrison while the second quake occurred while the second earthquake, a 2.3 magnitude, happened early Sunday morning around 26 miles south-southeast of Harrison.
The USGS release says that quakes between 2 to 3 magnitudes are rarely felt but could be under the right conditions. Anyone who felt the quakes is encouraged to report it to the USGS.
