Tips for Recycling

Want to recycle? There are tips for that.

Chris Snyder with LRS Recycling appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Thursday to talk about recycling tips and procedures with Donna Braymer from the city of Harrison. Snyder offered these tips and insights for recycling.

  1. Cardboard is good to recycle.
  2. Plastic bottles with caps are good to recycle.
  3. Bleach bottles can go into recycling as long as they're rinsed out.
  4. Rinse out anything; the cleaner the recycled product, the better.
  5. Safety is a priority; customers should remain in their vehicles.
  6. Braymer said tree limbs and yard waste is also acceptable.
  7. There's a drop-off center for household hazardous waste, but it isn't picked up.
  8. Paint is taken in a dry form; Snyder recommends cat litter to dry up paint.
  9. Corded electronics can be dropped off.
  10. Televisions and computer monitors have a $10 charge.
  11. LRS accepts cash, checks, and cares.

Snyder also discussed reuse, recycle and repurpose. Reuse is a principle promoting the reuse of things like peanut butter jars.

The facility does on-site and curbside service. Their drive-thru has a drop-off point for glass.

Snyder said spring clean up starts on April 1. Trash should be ready for pickup by 6 a.m. or the night before.

LRS is available at 870-204-6690. LRS will close on Mondays and Tuesdays on April 1.

Drop-off is possible from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday hours vary slightly. More was discussed during the interview.

The full interview with Snyder and Braymer is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
