A tradition that started at a Texas university is making its way to College of the Ozarks.
Dr. Don Newbury, during his time as President of Howard Payne University, started a tradition with his wife Brenda that would welcome students into their home for popcorn when the porch light was on at the president's residence. Current C of O President Dr. Brad Johnson and his wife Laura were at Howard Payne University and took part in that tradition.
In a ceremony held Tuesday at President Johnson's home, Dr. Newbury presented Dr. Johnson with a Popcorn Scoop to pass on the tradition to the Point Lookout campus. Dr. Johnson as well as school Administrative Assistant Lily Peterson, announce at the ceremony that they will be incorporating this tradition into the Student Ambassador Program beginning this fall.
