The Life Center in Harrison will host a blood drive Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to Pastor Adam Miles.
Miles announced the event Tuesday on KHOZ’s “Around the Table.” The church, located at 421 N. Adams St., is partnering with the American Red Cross for the drive.
Miles said the event marks the start of the giving season and is focused on giving back to the community. Donors can schedule a time to give on the Red Cross website.
He added that his wife, who leads outreach for The Life Center, came up with the idea for the blood drive. The church will provide food during the event and give coupons from local businesses to donors. “When you give, you get something in return,” Miles said.
The next event for The Life Center will be its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drop on Nov. 22. The church is already collecting food supplies for the effort.
Miles explained donors have helped the church double its goal this year — from 100 turkeys distributed last year to 200 this year, along with traditional side dishes and fixings.
The giveaway is aimed at families and individuals in need of food. “You serve Jesus by serving others,” Miles said.
Registration for the Turkey Drop is available online. More was discussed on the broadcast.
The full interview with Miles is on the "Around The Table" Facebook page.
