TCHD: No Further Measles Cases in Lakes Region

The Taney County Health Department sends a release updating the public on the Measles case reported in April and to thank the agencies that assisted in treating and containing the virus.

The release below is from the Taney County Health Department:

In light of the recent measles case in Taney County, the Taney County Health Department (TCHD) would like to formally thank the public for doing their part in limiting the spread of measles. The case was handled successfully thanks to the incredible teamwork of community partners and citizens. All individuals who were exposed to measles in the recent event received vaccination and/or quarantined for 21 days to protect themselves and others. “We are grateful to be a part of a community that cares for each other” states Lisa Marshall, TCHD Director. Currently, there have been no additional measles cases in Taney County.

The team at TCHD would especially like to recognize Cox Health Branson, Stone County Health Department, and the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services for their support during this time. From assisting with vaccinations to communications, these organizations helped
TCHD respond quickly and effectively.

Public health is working around the clock to keep the community healthy and informed. The best way to prevent measles is by getting vaccinated. It is important to have access to vaccination records for reference. Two doses of the Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR) Vaccine provide 97%
protection against measles. If someone becomes exposed and is unvaccinated, it is important for them to get vaccinated within 3 days. This can help stop someone from getting sick or make their illness milder.
