Taneycomo Festival Orchestra: 14 Seasons and Counting

The new season for the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra is a week away.

Dr. Larkin Sanders, Founder and Executive Artistic Director of the orchestra, recounted during a recent visit to KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program how the group began. The Branson native, who was studying classical music in college, wanted to have an event in her home area to highlight classical music. Sanders said she invited 35 people to the first event to perform and everyone that said they would perform made their way to the Lakes Region. Sanders said the other challenge in getting started was setting up the non-profit organization to administer the event.

The pattern of that first event continues into season 14, which will feature two major concerts, on June 20 at Hollister High School and the followoing Friday June 27 at Branson High School. Smaller ensemble events will take place over the two week period beginning next Wednesday the 18.

This year's schedule can be found on this websites event calendar plus on the TFO Website.
