An area student earns a scholarship to help continue her education in the field of Agriculture.
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture announces in a release the awarding of $20,000 in scholarships to eight students attending Arkansas universities with agricultural programs.
The eight students include Anna Mathis of Harrison who is majoring in Agricultural Communications and Leadership at the University of Arkansas.
Students going to Arkansas State, Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Tech were also among those awarded scholarships.
Funding for the scholarships comes from civil penalties collected by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture with a committee of the department selecting the scholarship recipients.
