Winter Storm Kingston has left the Lakes Region leaving behind significant snow fall and dangerously cold temperatures.
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for southern Missouri and an Extreme Cold Warning for northern Arkansas with temperatures staring out today in the single digits, getting to the teens for highs, then below zero for overnight lows.
In addition, winds out of the north will gust to 20 MPH keeping wind chills below zero until Friday.
Storm impacts are still being felt today with schools and many businesses closed again. Roads throughout the region are snow packed which makes driving hazardous. Branson Emergency Management Director Ted Martin, during an interview on KRZK’s “Ozarks Now” program said staying off the roads will help crews continue to clear them. In addition, for those that must travel, having a winter safety kit in your vehicle including a warm blanket is advised should if someone should get stranded during these extreme cold conditions.
Temperatures will warm above freezing for the weekend and are forecast to reach the 60s by next Monday.
