The National Park Service has cancelled the solicitation for businesses to provide canoe and kayak rental at the Buffalo National River.
In a statement posted by KTLO, officials say they request was canceled due to an Executive Order that increases the minimum wage for federal contractors. Since any concessioners that have contracts for services at the national river fall under that category, officials are going to revise the minimum franchise fee to allow any successful bidders a reasonable chance to make a profit with the business.
National Park officials do anticipate reissuing the request before the end of the year.
