Seitz Threw Spotlight on Key Accomplishments Tuesday

Missouri House Representative Brian Seitz took a moment to spotlight his pro-life and anti-child-sexual-abuse legislative accomplishments during Tuesday night's Branson Board of Aldermen meeting.

First, he pointed to his pro-life bill. It's House Joint Resolution 73. If signed by the governor and passed when voted on via ballot, it would repealed Amendment three and was passed on the senate's last day in session. "HJR 73 provides protections for women, safety measures that were removed, specifically dealing with the abortive procedure," Seitz said. He explained that he will reinstate those safety measures with the resolution.

He went on to unpack what the legislation will do. Seitz said it will also safeguard children from attempting to transition genders via surgery and hormonal drugs. Additionally, Missouri citizens wanting to undergo such surgery and treatment will have to wait until the age of 18 to do so. "Let kids be kids, and HJR 73 does that," the representative said.

The pro-life legislation also protects infants in the womb. At the same time, Seitz pointed out that his resolution allows for abortion in exceptional cases: the mother's life is in danger, fetal anomalies present as well as rape and incest.

HJR 73 will feature on the ballot in November of 2026. He said those exceptions amount to less than 1% of abortions in Missouri.

Second, Seitz shifted the attention to his work to end the use of NDAs against victims who later wish to speak out. He said they will not be judicially enforced in Missouri when the governor signs it into law.

"I added that as an amendment to about seven senate bills to make sure it passed because adult victims of child sexual abuse need to speak out in order to heal," Seitz said. More was discussed during the meeting
