An organization dedicated to the safe and legally surrendering of a newborn baby will place a box in Harrison on Wednesday.
The city will dedicate its first Safe Haven Baby Box at Harrison Fire Station #2 located on South Pine Street at 1:00 pm.
According to information from the Save Haven Website, this will be the 30th Safe Haven Box in Arkansas.
The Safe Haven Baby Boxes organization was founded in 2017 to help prevent unsafe infant abandonment by placing boxes at locations where medical personnel can immediately care for it and lead to adoption. The organization also has a National Crisis Hotline as a resource for young mothers.
More information can be found on the Safe Haven Baby Boxes Facebook Page.
