Rotary Club of Harrison’s Dental Clinic to Reopen

Rotary Dental Clinic plans to have a grand reopening on Nov. 9.

Rhonda Laborde from Rotary Dental Clinic joined KHOZ’s Around The Table on Friday to discuss the dental service. The service has not been offered for almost two years because of COVID-19. Laborde said the Rotary Dental Clinic started in 2003. “It started out for people that did not have dental insurance that could not afford dental hygiene,” she said. Since 2003, they have seen about 3,000 people, pulled about 4,000 teeth and “we basically saved the community about a million dollars.”

The service only performs extractions; Laborde said while people want them to do other things, they cannot. The service is volunteer-run. There will be new protocols and “a little bit different way of doing things” when they reopen. “It’s going to be trial and error. We’re just really excited to be able to have the dental clinic at all, and we’re just going to go month by month and see how things work.” Anyone in need of the service can contact Ozark Share & Care and then Ozark Share & Care will “walk them through the process” and make sure individuals do not have dental insurance. Laborde said having dental insurance is a disqualifier for Rotary’s service because it is needs-based. The full interview with Laborde is on Around The Table’s Facebook Page; the interview begins around the 25-minute mark.
