Proposed Stone County Ambulance District

Meetings are underway in Stone County to discuss a proposed ambulance district. 

A meeting was held Monday night in Hurley with another meeting scheduled for this evening at 6:00 at the New Hope Church in Crane.

Barbara Booth of the Stone County Historical-Genealogy Society Museum tells the Branson Tri-Lakes News that the county has been notified by Cox and Mercy that they will no longer sustain ambulance service at the current level without financial assistance from the county.

A group is looking to collect signatures 2200 signatures by December 1st to get a Sales Tax Issue on the ballot for next year.

While the group looks to collect signatures, another area district is remaining neutral on the issue. In a recent Facebook post, the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District says that the tax issue has no no direct correlation to the district's tax-based income and will not impact the service they provide whether it passes or not.
