If the current proposal to change Arkansas Congressional Districts moves forward, several areas in Northwest Arkansas would see a change in Representation.
One of the biggest changes would have Harrison and Boone County along with Marion County moving from the 3rd District to the 1st. The proposal would also move all of Newton and Searcy Counties to the 4th and 1st District respectively after having been split between Districts the past decade. While Carroll County would stay in the 3rd District, Madison County would move from the 4th to the 3rd District.
The biggest change statewide is in Pulaski County which includes the Little Rock area as it would be split up into three districts.
The current proposal being considered was put forth from the House by State Representative Nelda Speaks of Mountain Home while an identical proposal was also approved in the Senate.
Initial votes on each proposal will take place this week.
