A procession is planned as part of the service to honor a WWII Veteran from the Lakes Region after his body was identified and his remains returned to the Ozarks.
Forsyth native United States Army 1st Lieutenant Robert Aikman was captured during the early days of WWII and remained in captivity until the later stages of the war when he died after a boat he was being transported on sank. He remains were recently identified and then brought back to the United States and transported to Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson.
On Friday, services are planned for Lt. Aikman. According to a post from the Forsyth Police Department, there will be a procession from Greenlawn to Community Presbyterian Church in Forsyth where a funeral service will take place at 1:00. After the service, another procession will take Lt Aikman from the church to Forsyth Cemetery for burial with full military honors.
The procession will leave Greenlawn in Branson around 11:00 onto Highway 248 then 65 to F, then onto 160 for the trip to the church then after the service back onto 160 to Coy Blvd.
Motorists are advised that the procession will cause traffic delays with parking in downtown Forsyth limited during the time of the service.
