UPDATE 8/24 6:00 am: A second person has died as a result of a traffic crash Saturday in Hollister.

A vehicle traveling the wrong way on Highway 65 in Hollister collides with another vehicle resulting in two fatalities and three injuries.
According to the report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 4:00 Saturday afternoon when a SUV driven by a 69-year-old Branson woman was driving northbound in the southbound passing lane of Highway 65 when it collided with another SUV head-on.
The driver of the SUV going the wrong way was pronounced dead at the scene while a 35 year-old female passenger from Hollister in the other SUV was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield in serious condition where she later died. The 34-year-old male driver of the other SUV and two juveniles in the vehicle sustained were injured and also taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by Taney County Ambulance.
Traffic was rerouted off of Highway 65 onto Business 65 and Highway 76 in Branson while the crash scene was being worked causing slow traffic in downtown Branson and Hollister for a time.
