The Transportation Security Administration has now levied a fee for travelers that do not have a Real ID or a valid Passport.
Jeff Monosso of FOX News Radio talked about the fee during a conversation on KRZK’S “Ozarks Now” program says travelers without the id will have to go to the TSA Website and pay $45 for a Confirmed ID that is valid for 10 Days. Monosso says that fee is to encourage those that have not transitioned to the Real ID to do so. The Real ID Law Officially went into effect May 7.
Officials in Arkansas remind residents they can transfer the expiration date from their current license for $10, or pay $40 for a full eight-year REAL ID. According to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, around 1.2 million REAL IDs have been issued since 2016, while 1.7 million people still have a standard license or ID.
