Motorist Battle Tough Driving Conditions Monday

Although the rounds of storms produced little snow accumulation on Monday, the conditions proved hazardous for motorists. 

Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol filed 19 Traffic Accident Reports on Monday, many related to slick driving conditions with the first wave of precipitation moving through Monday morning as well as a snow band that came through the region Monday evening. Several accidents also were reported in northern Arkansas. 

One crash was in the Lakes Region as a man from Ozark driving an SUV went off Highway 65 four miles north of Branson around 8:30 Monday evening struck a ditch and overturned. The man was taken by Taney County Ambulance to Cox South in Springfield for treatment of his injuries. 

Road conditions are mostly clear according to both the Arkansas and Missouri Departments of Transportation but officials due caution of possible slick spots on bridges and overpasses as well as on secondary roads and on sidewalks. 

The rest of the week looks to be clear of precipitation. Temperatures will warm up the next couple of days but a front will bring temperatures back down for a day on Thursday before the warming trend resumes for the weekend.
