A long list of charges have now been filed against the man who fired shots while at Mercy Hospital in Berryville and briefly escaped custody.
The shooting on May 10 took place after 25-year-old William Rose II was taken to Mercy for injuries after attempting to take his own life while in custody at the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. Rose was in jail after allegedly breaking into a business in Eureka Springs the day before. Rose had also been involved in an altercation at a Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center according to court documents.
The next day, officers transported Rose to Mercy when he overcame a deputy, took his service weapon, and tried to shoot him. Nurses were able to get the service weapon away from Rose who then fled the hospital but was recaptured a short time later.
The charges for the incident at the hospital include Attempted Capital Murder and 1st-Degree Escape. Rose is also facing over half a dozen charges for the incidents on May 9.
Rose was arraigned on the most recent charges last week and is scheduled for his next appearance in Carroll County Western Circuit on July 7.
