WASHINGTON D.C. — Missouri Senator Josh Hawley introduced an act that would display “In God We Trust” on all federal buildings in the United States.
Sen. Hawley introduced the bill Tuesday morning in Washington that would require the General Services Administration (GSA) to display the national motto on the buildings. The motto, Hawley says, goes back to the days of President Abraham Lincoln, and was adopted by Congress in 1956 during the rise of “atheist communism”.
In 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill that required the slogan to be inscribed on all U.S. dollar bills and coins.
