Two longtime Memorial Day Ceremonies will take place again this year in the Lakes Region.
In Branson, the annual Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at the Ozarks Memorial Park Monday at 11:00 am. The ceremony will feature a posting of the colors, the playing of Taps by Army Veteran Bob Smithers with the Hughes Brothers performing the National Anthem. This year’s keynote speaker is Retired Navy Rear Admiral Hank Monlinengo. The traditional rifle volley and laying of the seven wreaths will also take place.
Those attending the ceremony are reminded to bring Lawn Chairs due to seating on site being limited.
Meanwhile, the Boone County War Memorial Association will conduct the annual Memorial Day Ceremonies on Monday. Lionel Cantu and Gene Woody stopped by KHOZ’s “Around the Table” to talk about the ceremony which this year has been moved inside the Lyric Theater. Ceremonies will begin at 11:00 am. Cantu says one of the themes of this year’s ceremony will be to talk about the role that Military Chaplains have played in the Armed Services. More information on the ceremony can be found with the full interview on the “Around the Table” Facebook Page.
