An elderly Marion County man is accused of multiple sex crimes involving children.
Authorities recently arrested 79-year-old Clarence Leroy Smith of Yellville on charges of rape, sexual assault, sexually grooming a child and traveling for the purpose of an unlawful sex act with a minor.
According to the probable cause affidavit in one case, Smith is accused of inappropriately touching two nine-year-old females while they were boating and swimming last summer on Bull Shoals Lake. That led three counts of sexual assault in the second degree.
Details about the charges of rape, sexually grooming a child and traveling for the purpose of an unlawful sex act with a minor have not been released. The files in that case, which also involve a minor, have been sealed.
Smith is being held in the Marion County Detention Center on a $175,000 bond.
