A Marion County man remains hospitalized and may soon face charges for an incident that happened at his residence earlier this month.
Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander tells KTLO that the incident occurred on January 9 when deputies were called to a residence off Highway 14 near Yellville and found a house and several vehicles on fire. The officers found 72-year-old Kenneth Nelson holding a gas container near a vehicle and when they ordered him to drop it, he produced a gun and shot himself in the head. The deputies were able to pull him away from the flames and he was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield where he remains.
Alexander says Nelson will probably face criminal charges once he is released.
