Area firefighters continue to battle blazes.
The latest information comes from the Marion County Office of Emergency Management through a Facebook post Tuesday reporting that a multiple fire agencies in the county along with the U.S. Park Service were trying to contain fires that started on Monday. Emergency Management Director Melissa Penn followed up with KTLO in Mountain Home that the two fires were at separate locations near Marion County Road 6040. The fires were contained around 10:30 Tuesday night according to Penn.
Marion County as well as most surrounding counties in Arkansas continue to be under a Burn Band as winds are forecast to remain strong and gusty the rest of the week.
