A man from Boone County finds himself in the Newton County Jail on Arson Charges.
Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler tells KTLO News that 45-year-old Nathan Stuart of Harrison is also facing Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct Charges after he allegedly started a pair of fires on Arkansas State Highway 74 Saturday morning.
Sheriff Wheeler says deputies were dispatched to both locations and saw the houses on fire. The deputies were able to extinguish the fires with the Hasty Fire Department following up to prevent flare-ups. While deputies were interviewing witnesses, a vehicle matching one seen at the time of the fires drove by and deputies eventually made a traffic stop of the vehicle that Stuart was driving. Though denying any involvement in setting the fires, several items found at the scene were identified as belonging to Stuart.
Stuart is in the Newton County Jail on a $15,000 Bond.
