Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler says in a release that an arrest has been made in the shooting that happened last Saturday in Jasper.
Wheeler said State Police Investigators had filed an affidavit charging 39-year-old Kurt William Gronwaldt II with Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons (Felon) and Terroristic Threatening.
Wheeler said that Gronwaldt came to a residence in Jasper and began acting very erratically. The homeowners feared for their lives and took appropriate action to defend themselves by shooting the suspect. Wheeler said the shooting has been ruled self-defense.
Gronwaldt is being held in the Newton County Jail on a $100,000.00 bond. Probation and Parole also placed a hold on him for allegedly violating his Parole.
