Maddox Keeter saw a hole in what Harrison offers and filled it.
He discussed his club and love of the board game during Thursday's "Around The Table" program on KHOZ. His club is two years old. It meets every Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. upstairs in the Boone County Library.
It's a club that's open to anyone of any skill level. Keeter expressed that he will teach attendees, and that he has plenty of chess sets. Keeter said he learned that Harrison didn't have a chess club.
He decided to change that. Keeter explained that he grew up in Harrison and moved back close to two years ago. Upon returning to the city, he discovered that the closest chess club was in Little Rock.
There were two additional options, but Keeter said nothing was ideally close. More was discussed on the broadcast.
