Lakes Region Continue in Heat Advisories, Heat Warnings UPDATE

UPDATE Sunday 10:00 PM: The National Weather Service has extended the Extreme Heat Warning for the Missouri Lakes Region until Tuesday morning followed by a Heat Advisory while the Heat Advisory remains in effect for northern Arkansas.

With hot temperatures continuing to impact the Ozarks, the National Weather Service has revised their weather advisories. 

The Missouri Ozarks are under an Extreme Heat Warning through 10:00 this evening with the Heat Advisory going back into effect after that through Tuesday. The Arkansas Ozarks remain in a Heat Advisory. 

Temperatures are expected at or above 100 today with Heat Index reading possible to 115. 

The National Weather Service Statement on Heat Precautions is below:

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
