Judge Hathaway Talks new County Building

Boone County Judge Robert Hathaway talked Monday about construction for the new county building.

Hathaway appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Time" on Monday. Regarding the new building, he said meetings with architects have taken place and plans are in the works. "We're hoping to get our assessor/collector in there by the end of the year," Hathaway said. However, additional time is needed for the courts.

The judge said it will probably be another year before the courts are placed in the building. On another note, close to half of the building won't need to be touched by the architects. Another priority is security.

He said it's hard to move people in when all the wiring and materials need changing, so they need to take consideration of who is moved in so they don't need to be moved again for the wiring process. Cameras and ID card scanners are coming.
