Investigation Underway on Shooting Death in Marion County

An investigation is underway after a woman was shot to death in Oakland Sunday night.

Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander says the 23-year-old victim was taken to Baxter Health where she died from her injuries. No names have been released.

The sheriff says they were advised of the shooting at 10:09 Sunday night on Marion County Road 1093 in the Oakland community. Deputies from both Marion and Baxter County responded. No other details have been released as the investigation continues.

Alexander says the victim’s body will be sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
