The Marion County Sheriff's Office is continuing an investigation after a fire where human remains were believed to be found.
The press release from the department is below:
On 07/10/25, deputies were dispatched to a fire scene at a residence located on MC Road 145 in the Oakland area. On arrival deputies requested assistance from Investigators who subsequently responded to the scene to begin their investigation. On 07/10/25, Marion County Investigators conducted a crime scene search, and over the next several days were assisted by members of the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Bomb and Arson Unit (BAU) as well as members of the FBI Evidence Response Team (ERT) to assist in determining the cause and origin of the fire and to recover evidence related to the fire. During the crime scene search, evidence believed to be human remains were recovered from the scene and submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for analysis and identification. Investigators are not releasing any names associated with the residence until additional information is received from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.
The investigation is ongoing, and foul play is not expected at this time. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
