Springfield Police is continuing an investigation into a crash that killed the driver of a motorcycle from Stone County.
According to the release from the Springfield Police Department, the crash occurred Thursday morning when the motorcycle driven by 59-year-old Robert Butler of Crane was changing lanes on Campbell Ave near the James River Freeway when it collided with a vehicle turning off of an exit ramp onto Campbell. Butler was ejected from the motorcycle and hit by another car while the motorcycle slid into a third car as a result of the collision. Butler later died of his injuries at a Springfield Hospital.
The release states that officers of the department's Traffic Section are continuing their investigation of the crash and encourage anyone with information to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810.
