The Harrison Police Department is continuing an investigation into the death of a man who apparently took his own life.
According to the release from the department, during the Noon hour on Thursday, officers were dispatched to the Links Apartments on Club Circle to do a welfare check on a 20-year-old male that had made suicidal statements. Officers kept trying to speak to the person in the apartment but received no response. About 10 minutes later, a gunshot was heard from inside the apartment and after the surrounding scene was secured, officers entered the apartment to find the male deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Harrison police were assisted on scene by the Harrison Fire Department, Boone County Sheriff's Office, 14th Judicial Drug Task Force, and North Arkansas Regional Medical Center EMS.
