An organization seeks items leftover from those who visit the Lakes Region.
Leftovers 4 Locals was formed last year by Gena Hedgpeth, who had seen the idea work in other communities. During a recent visit to KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program, Hedgpeth said the idea is that most visitors bring their own supplies including food and hygiene items. Information has been left at nightly and long-term rental locations as well as some hotels on how visitors with leftover non-perishable unused items can contact the organization to donate the items that in turn, can go to food pantries like Christian Action Ministries and Salvation Army to help keep their pantry shelves stocked.
