Harrison Trap Shooting Coaches Seek to Make the Sport Accessible via Fundraisers

Trapshooting is expensive, but the Harrison Goblin Leadslingers have a bunch of fundraisers to make it more accessible.

Wes Bradford, head coach, and Brett Gonzales, assistant coach, appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about the fundraising efforts for the trap shooting team. Bradford said one fundraiser is currently active.

It's a rifle raffle. It's a Rossi 44Mag. Contestants 18 and older are permitted to enter the raffle. Another fundraising event will feature the announcement of the winner.

Bradford emphasized the importance of the fundraisers. Many, he said would find themselves surprised at how much money it takes to run such a program. Senior team student needs close $400 to practice. Junior team students require about $200 to practice.

The shots fired don't go to waste. The coach explained that practices are constructed to function as real competitions. He said the practices for this sport are like other sports' practice runs.

The biggest difference is that items used for practice, in this case, shots, aren't reusable. Bradford highlighted an exception.

Some targets are reusable because they didn't take any damage. That's not the case for most of them.

Later, Bradford discussed a tea party fundraiser at 12 Oaks. Additional information about and reservation-making for the tea party is available by phone at 870-577-2446. More was discussed during the interview.

The full interview with Bradford and Gonzales is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
